A. 3 p.m. Check with us, early check in may be possible.

Q. What time is check out?

A. 11 a.m. In order to clean the cottage for the next guest please adhere to this check out time.

Q. Are pets allowed?

A. Unfortunately no, pets are not allowed.


Q. Is there a maximum number of people?

A. The maximum number of people allowed is 6.

Q. We are traveling with two big family’s is there another rental nearby?

A. Yes there is a wonderful cottage on the same road, just steps away. The name is Sundance Cottage and sleeps 7. Inquire and I will point you in the right direction.

Q. Do you offer discounts for extended stays?

A. Yes, there is a 5% discount for a week stay.

Q. Do I need to bring linens?

A. No all linens are provided for you.

Q. How private is the cottage?

A. The cottage is on the grounds of Blue Boar Estates which is comprised of one retreat house and six cottages. There is one cottage within view of Trillium Cottage but it is very private. There is no thru-traffic. There is very little street lighting allowing for great star gazing.

Q. Do I need 4-wheel drive to access the cottage?

A. No, but front wheel drive or all wheel drive is strongly recommended. The driveway to the cottage is steep and in the winter 4-wheel drive is definitely recommended.

Q. How far is the nearest hospital?

A. The nearest hospitals are in Bryson City or Murphy, both about 50 minutes away.

Q. Is there a grocery store nearby?

A. The nearest grocery store is Ingles located in Robbinsville, 9 miles away (20-25 minute drive). I encourage you to plan accordingly.  The closest place to buy liquor is in Andrews, NC 45 minutes away. Plan ahead if you plan to drink liquor.

Q. Are paper products supplied?

A. There will be toilet paper and paper towels enough for a couple of days. You should bring your own beyond that time frame.

Q. Is there free WiFi

A. Yes, the internet connection is satellite. This will likely be slower than you are used to. 

Q. Will there be spices/herbs?

A. Yes, there are basic organic herbs and spices.

Q. What sizes are the beds?

A. There are two queen beds and one queen sleeper sofa.

Q. Are the bathrooms private?

A. One bathroom is private and one bathroom is shared.

Q. Are there canoes, kayaks or paddle boards for use?

A. Currently we keep a canoe and a hybrid paddle board/kayak down at the lake access. Guests are welcome to use them at their own risk.

Q. Is there a stereo system?

A. There is a bluetooth speaker that you may play your music through if you have a bluetooth device.

Q. Is there a grill?

A. Yes, there is a propane grill.

Q. Is there a fire pit?

A. Yes, but you must bring your own wood.

Q. Is there a hot tub?

A. Yes.

Q. Is there a bathtub?

A. Yes, there is one standard bathtub and one whirlpool bathtub (currently the jets are not working on the indoor whirlpool tub).

Q. Is there a high chair?

A. No.

Q. Is there a view?

A. Yes! There is a beautiful view of the mountains as well as the lake.

Q. Is the cottage right on the lake?

A. No, it is a .5 mile walk or drive down to the lake.

Q. Is there air conditioning?

A. Yes, there is central air.
